Today we have Priyanka sharing details about a non profitable group created by bunch of professionals trying to help Orphan children. I am trying to spread their message and help them get volunteers through this post.

What is Umeed .. ek Aasha?
It just happened one day ….. !!
We are (started as) a group of people – mainly professionals who came together while looking forward to join our hands over a teaching initiative led by a leading newspaper of India. Out of an absolutely pure thought of helping the needy, we decided to meet and form a bond; And thus “Umeed Ek Asha” was born!!! We decided to work towards the education and welfare of the underprivileged.
To keep in touch with each other, we set up a Yahoo group and interacted primarily over emails. Also, we have been holding periodic meetings where we discuss and plan out activities to contribute to this noble cause.
We have “Umeed” in our hearts and “Asha” in our eyes. We want to make a difference….and our hearts say, we are…
Where do we do this?
Our current activity is mainly focused for the teaching of kids in an Orphanage, run by Delhi govt. The name is Child Home for Boys, Kasturba Niketan Complex, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi. We briefly say it KN. We are active here since 2007.
What do we do in Kasturba Niketan (KN)?
- Organizing small events before/after the festival like: Holi, Diwali and New Year. During that we distribute snacks/sweets/gifts to kids. Having competition for them etc.
- Organizing Literacy Camps for the kids
- Weekend Teaching session by volunteers
- Discussing with the authorities for hiring personal paid tuitions.
- Arranging sponsors for the private tuitions at KN
Why are we telling you this?
We are looking for the dedicated/committed volunteers who are willing to give their contribution for the upliftment of these underprivileged kids. Education is the only thing which will make them independent.
