This feature has been developed in Siebel around 2005 mid as a part of siebel8.0. I involved in developing this. Task based UI basically intends to give a phenamenon for next generation workflow, where you can navigate through various views.
In terms of siebel field service application, business scenario is, when the field engineer installs some equipment at customer site, now he wants to file the expense report to get all the expenses incurred during that time like travel exp,food etc. Now, field engineer may not be knowing which screen he has to navigate . With TBUI, siebel is providing a task to combile all the views.
