Answer of the question is: YES
I know some of you will straight away say this is ridiculous and dismiss the answer as I would have done few days ago.
But the answer is not a straight YES. You can do a set field value provided you fulfil some conditions.
Conditions under which you can use SetFieldValue on a calculated field are as following.
- There should be a Pick Map defined on that calculated field.
- There should be a picklist defined on that calculated field
Then a SetFieldValue results in picking of the value which you are trying to set in case if the value doesn’t exist in that picklist then you will get an error.

Calculated fields are read only fields…They cannot be edited…

One question Neel!! Since a calculated field is not based on any column .. what is the use of defining a picklist and a pick map on the calculated field. Do you have any practical example where this situation can arise?

So i happen to fall into a pit of darkness!!!
And suprised!!!! creating picklist for a calculated field!!! quite intresting but sounds like its not possible. As sumit had mentioned, it (calculated field) cannot be mapped to any lov (or a picklist)!!! am not buying wat you have mentioned here. Pls give us screenshots… May be that will make me not a head strong!!!

Hi Neel plz help me out , i really need it.
Iam using a product field in an applet, which uses pick applet.Now when I click that field an empty Order Entry -Line Item Product Pick pops out, and wen I click Go or Cancel button on that applet the correct Order Entry -Line Item Product Pick pops out with all the values populated , so now I want to Remove this empty Pick Applet from in between and get the populated applet Straightaway.Plzz help me in this regard.

I am not sure if I understand your problem correctly. What you are trying to say is that there are basically 2 pick applets being displayed when you click on pick applet icon ???
and it will be better if you post your problem in forum instead here as comments as they tend to go unnoticed as everybody doesn’t goes through all the posts so the chances that somebody might answer gets reduced.
