Lot of times you must have received email generated from Siebel containing a link that takes you to the particular record in Siebel when clicked.

Ever wondered about the details of that link?

That hyperlink is called bookmark.  Here is a step by step procedure of creating a bookmark in Siebel.

  • Navigate to your desired view which you want to take the user to.
  • Click on File Menu of your Siebel Application as shown below.
  • Click on Create Bookmark. You will see the window shown below.
  • Copy the hyperlink provided in window.
  • You can use this bookmark anywhere you want you just need to parameterize the last bit of this bookmark to make it generic. Here is an example code
  • Now you can use this link and send mail containing link that will take user to the record on which this script is executed.

Just a word of caution on using bookmarks.

If you want the bookmark to take the user to detail view then make sure that user has the responsibility for that view otherwise it will give user error and user will not be able to navigate to that particular record. So, it is always advisable to take user to the list view applet and then allow user to navigate from there onwards
