In this post we will discuss about creating a bookmarks which can be used in a Proposal template.
Procedure to create a bookmarks and to use it in a proposal template can be divided in two phases
- Outside Siebel (in Microsoft Word document)
- Inside Siebel in Administration Document > Proposal Templates
First we will outline the steps needed to be performed in Microsoft word
Open Microsoft Word
Write some text (bookmark name)
Select the text you just entered and click on Insert > Bookmark
Bookmark Window will appear. Enter the bookmark name and click on Add.
Keep the text selected and Click on Insert > Field. Field window will appear
Select Links and References from Categories drop down.
Select Ref from the left hand side text box. It will result in your bookmark appearing in the Field Properties text box. Select your bookmark you created and select the ‘Preserve formatting during updates’ checkbox
Click on OK
This will result in the bookmark text to appear like

Don’t panic it means that your reference is not ready for use and you can use it inside siebel
Inside Siebel
Go to Administration Document > Proposal Field Mappings.
(assumption here is that you already have a mapping and you just want to add this bookmark)
Select a mapping and then select a BC which you want to use.
Click on + symbol and then create a New Record in Business Component Field List Applet
Enter the bookmark name that you just created and select the field that you want to map to this bookmark
Save the record
Goto Administration Document > Proposal templates
Create a New Template and give the name of the mapping in which you just created the bookmark.Upload your word doc that contains the bookmarks.
And you are done. Just remember that to have successful document generation you need to have document server installed and it is only available for windows server. You cannot install Document server on Solaris or UNIX system.
