With advent of siebel 7Siebel took the application to next level by harnessing the power of web. It did improve application a lot but introduced new set of problems related to internet. Web applications run on browser so, browser settings are very important in efficient running of application. In this post we are going to discuss important IE setting that can affect siebel application performance.

The information below has been shared by a friend of mine ‘Ankit Gupta’ working in siebel from past 2 years.

With incorrect Internet Explorer settings, you will experience any or all of the following:

  • Sluggish performance navigating between screens.
  • Blank or incomplete loading of screens
  • Inability to export data resulting in files larger than 1 MB in size
  • Clicking during export
  • Inability to use any other application during export
  • Blank or incomplete pop-up windows or lock-up of the application
  • Pick List Errors and Siebel Application Freezing Up.

If you experience any of the above mentioned problem then it is wise idea to go through your IE settings to see if they are correct or not. Adjust settings within your Internet Explorer application as shown below to prevent the symptoms described above.

How to Change Settings

  1. Go to Internet Explorer > Select TOOLS menu > Internet Options
  2. Within the Internet Options screen select the Advanced tab menu at the top
  3. Scroll down to where it says “HTTP1.1 Settings”.   Within this menu selection there are two options you can check:
     Use HTTP 1.1
Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections.
  4. Ensure the “HTTP 1.1” is unchecked, and the “HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections” is checked
  5. Also ensure that the “JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled (requires re-start)” is CHECKED.
Depending on other applications you may be running on your PC, the other 2 boxes in this sub-category may also be checked — You do not need to uncheck these
  6. Once you have selected these, go ahead and apply the change by selecting the Apply button
  • Go to Connections tab > Lan Settings
  • Make sure you don’t have both the “Use automatic Configuration Script” and “Use a Proxy server for your LAN checked”.
  • Go to General Tab, click on Settings
  • Select “Automatically” option under check for newer versions of stored pages.
  • Click On View Objects
  • This will open the Downloaded program Files Window. Check the Status of the Siebel High Interactivity Framework. If it is shown as “Damaged”, delete it (Close the instance of Application if open) . If some Special character file (##@#8#@) is present delete the file irrespective of its Status. This should Stop the occurrence of Pick List Errors and Application  Freezing Up Errors.

Go ahead and close down your Internet Explorer screen and then re-launch it. (Some times changes take effect after rebooting the system.)

Hope this helps !!!!
